Your journey.
Who pays the toll?

How you pay the M50 toll in a rental car depends on your agreement. Check with your rental company before you set off.

Start with your rental terms

Some rental companies pay the toll and add it to your bill; others leave payment to the driver.

Ask specifically about the barrier-free M50 toll. A device fitted in the car does not, by itself, tell you what your agreement covers.

The company pays

Check when you will be charged, whether a service fee is included and whether you need to do anything. Keep the agreement so you can check your final bill.

You pay

Pay the M50 toll by 8pm the next day, Irish local time. Check that you are using the rental car’s registration number and keep the receipt.

Your pre-travel checklist

Tick these four items to make sure your toll payment arrangements are clear.

These ticks are a personal reminder and reset when you refresh the page.

After returning the car

Keep your rental agreement and receipts until the final bill with your rental company is settled.

If you receive a bill for a toll or late payment, first ask the rental company for a breakdown. The company’s administration fee and an eFlow charge are separate items.

Before paying for the same journey again, check your confirmation and agreement. Ask the rental company about its bill and contact eFlow about an eFlow payment.
